Hope Solo: Soccer goalkeeper
Hope Amelia Solo was born on 30 July 1981. She is an American soccer goalkeeper. She is also an Olympic gold medalist (2 wins). Since 2000, she has played for the United States women's national soccer team. Solo played for the University of Washington. Later, she began playing professionally for the Philadelphia Charge in the WUSA (Women's United Soccer Association). After the organization folded, she went in Europe, so she can play in Sweden and France. Between 2009 and 2011, she played in the WPS (Women's Professional Soccer) for Saint Louis Athletica. In 2012, she started playing for the Seattle Sounders. Now, Solo plays in the National Women's Soccer League, for the Seattle Reign FC.
Solo is known as one of the best female goalkeepers in the world. She also holds a record for the cleanest sheet in the career. She was the first goalkeeper in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and was responsible for leading the United States into the semifinals. She gave up only 2 goals in 4 games. Solo helped her country to win the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 2008 and 2012. During the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011, her skills were impressive. She received a Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper.
Solo has a husband. He is Jerramy Stevens, a former American football player. They have been together since 2012. In the same year, Stevens was arrested because of an assault. However, a judge didn’t have enough evidence to hold him in custody so he was released the next day. A day after he was released, the couple wed, on 13 November 2012.
